Jun. 26th, 2010 04:52 pmI think I'm inadvertently researching Roman!Rory fic. Also Roman naming conventions are hella complicated, and none of them have an R or a W in.
Yes, I did just spend like half an hour working out what Rory's Roman mates would have called him.
(for those who are interested, I settled on Marcus Glevius Roricus- As a foreigner, Rory would have probably adopted the given name of the current emperor (Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus, aka Trajan, he of the column), Glevius kinda-sorta means 'from Gloucester (aka Glevum)' where Leadworth supposedly is, and Roricus because... I needed to have some fun, okay)
