Title: The Queen of Air and Darkness
Author:
thewaterbandit
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Morgana
Fandom: Merlin
Summary: It is the world for which you strive: you alone, among the dead.
Happy Christmas! I got you an angsty Morgana drabble 8D
On the day of her succession to the throne of Camelot, Queen Morgana the First stands at the balcony of the palace and addresses half a frightened city at arrow-point. She has liberated them, she says, from a tyrant and a despot. This will be the beginning of a new era of magic and wonders. Morguase's soldiers (her sister has told her) are only there to assure that the King's supporters do not attempt a counter-coup. The black banner behind her swallows her hair, leaving only a small, pale face so that she looks like a doll in her too-large crown. Somebody (bravely, stupidly) cries out "Witch!" in the silence, and all unheeded the echo of Uther rings in Morgana's words.
"Find the culprit. Execute them. I will not tolerate this disrespect in my kingdom."
Words all dried up, Morgana returns to an empty castle and a throne room filled with the dead.
It is not her dream, this world of silent soldiers and traitors, Gwen's eyes empty and accusing despite her loyal words. But then it has been a long time since Morgana dreamed of anything at all.
